Frequently Asked Questions

Q, Is Kiwi Air a 'real-world' airline?
A, No, Kiwi Air is a fictional airline. There was indeed a Kiwi Air International Airline that operated between 1992 and 1999 but we are in no way connected to that organisation.

Q, Can anyone join Kiwi Air?
A, Yes! As long as you have a copy of Microsoft's flight simulator and an internet connection (for filing flight reports on this site) you can join.

Q, What software do I need?
A, Kiwi Air was primarily created for Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2004 (A Century Of Flight). Other versions of Flight Simulator (i.e. FS2002, FS2000) can be used with Kiwi Air although we cannot promise that our downloadable fleet will work with these versions. We will also hope to be able to keep up with Flight Simulator X with fleet aircraft and Kiwi Air based missions.

Q, Do I need to be an experienced pilot?
A, No! Beginners are always welcome and can always find help on our forum or at fly-in events.

Q, Why do I need a password?
A, Some of the features on the Kiwi Air website are password protected in order to make them more functional. These are pages such as the crew department and flight reporting system that allow our pilots to upload information directly to our databases.

Q, Can I transfer my hours from my previous VA?
A, In order to prevent 'hour builders' - pilots who fly only long-haul routes to make themselves 'top of the roster' we require all our pilots to start as 'Trainee Pilots' with zero hours.
